Controls Engineer Full Job Description

Flexible Automation, Inc., a well-established, 35-year-old robotics integrator and machine builder is seeking a highly motivated Controls Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will be expected to perform controls engineering activities for the development of various automated equipment for our customer base. The position is located in Burton, which is South of Flint, Michigan.

Job duties include:

  • Controls programming of PLC’s, robots, and vision inspection systems
  • Commissioning, debug, and validation of control systems for automated equipment
  • Controls support/training during installation of equipment at customer site
  • Ability to travel, approximately 20% of the time
  • Work directly with customers in a professional manner to preserve the integrity of FAI

Required qualifications:

  • 5+ years exposure to controls systems of automated equipment
  • Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematics
  • Ability to set up Fieldbus network, Ethernet I/P, Profinet, etc.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

Desired qualifications:

  • 2+ years programming experience in Rockwell RSLogix5000, FactoryTalk Studio
  • 2+ years programming experience in Fanuc Robotics TP programming
  • 2+ years programming experience in Cognex Insight EasyBuilder
  • 2+ years Visual Basic experience
  • Siemens Step7, TIA Portal, WinCC programming experience
  • Microsoft Visual Studio programming experience
  • Electrical/pneumatics schematic design using AutoCAD
  • Fanuc HandlingTool Pro (Roboguide)
  • Servo programming experience
  • Keyence CV or IV programming experience

Experience:

  • Cognex Insight EasyBuilder: 2 years (Preferred)
  • exposure to controls systems of automated equipment: 5 years (Preferred)
  • Fanuc Robots programming: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Siemens: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Visual Basic: 2 years (Preferred)
