Robotic Systems Sales Engineer Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and talented Robotic Systems Sales Engineer to join our team. This position is responsible for soliciting, conceptualizing, estimating and selling “Engineer to Order” robotic cells and assembly machines.

Job duties include:

  • Business development and solicitation of opportunities in the automotive, industrial, consumer product, food, agricultural, appliance, and aerospace industries
  • Attend opportunity line-up meetings at the customer site or virtually
  • Leverage company resources such as the ERP system, vendor database, past proposal and project files, and working with the engineering teams
  • Develop the solution concept, and use basic CAD skills to create concept models
  • Create the system cost estimate utilizing the established templates and standards
  • Create the written proposal and work with the owner to set the proposal price
  • Log activities including lead measures and key performance indicators on a weekly basis
  • Attend tech reviews, validate purchase orders, attend kick-off meetings, and attend factory acceptance buy-off meetings

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of selling capital equipment in South-East Michigan
  • 3+ years of experience pertaining to robotics
  • 2+ years of experience in estimating costs for engineer-to-order solutions
  • Ability to use 2D or 3D CAD to create basic concept drawings or modify pre-existing automation cells.
  • Excellent technical writing ability
  • Professional interpersonal communication skills and a warm personality
  • Enthusiasm for soliciting business throughout Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana
  • A proven desire to network, an outgoing personality, and aggressive determination

Preferred Attributes:

  • Formal education in Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or Robotics
  • Experience with adhesives, primers, form-in-place gaskets, and lubricants
  • Experience with fasteners such as screws, clips, push-nuts, rivets, etc.
  • Experience with material handling conveyors, pallet wrappers, and other packaging automation
  • Experience with Fanuc, Epson, ABB, Kuka, Motoman, or Yamaha robots
  • Adept at working from home, the corporate office, and traveling in equal proportions
  • The ideal candidate will possess an eagerness to lead, creativity, and curiosity

Experience:

  • Capital equipment sales: 5 years (Preferred)
  • Robotics: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Estimating costs for engineer-to-order solutions: 2 years (Preferred)
  • 2D or 3D CAD: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Technical writing: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Fasteners such as screws, clips, push-nuts, rivets: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Mat’l handling, pallet wrappers, or packaging automation: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Adhesives, primers, and lubricants: 1 year (Preferred)

Education:

  • Bachelor’s (Preferred)
