Consistent Burr-Free Edges

This robotic deburring cell processes jet engine component parts for an aerospace industry supplier.  A six-axis Fanuc M-6i B robot is used in conjunction with two quick-change end of arm grippers,  polishing wheels, scathing tools, PC based controls, and a Visual Basic interface.   The system is programmed to process three different codes of product and can quickly be programmed for additional products.   A cyclone style debris collection is used to create negative pressure within the cell and to release clean filtered air back into the work environment.  Raw parts are loaded into one of three presentation drawers.  The robot selects the appropriate gripper, and then takes the product over to fixed position scathing tools so that large burrs can be removed.  From there, the product is moved across wire brush wheels at various angles so that the desired burr-free edge can be achieved.  Finished product is placed into outbound accumulation chutes.
