Flexible Automation’s Compact Mold-Mate Cell automates secondary assembly operations adjacent to injection molding machines. The Compact Mold-Mate chassis utilizes a Fanuc LR Mate 7L robot equpped with a spoke tool to install clips presented by an Asyril AsyCube or vibratory bowl-feeder.
The Compact Mold-Mate Process Cell features
- Inverted robot mount and vertical fixture to minimize floorspace requirements
- Casters, floor locating hardware, and a mobile discharge conveyor to allow for easy mold change-out
- Quick-change fixture interface that tips down to deposit finished assemblies onto discharge conveyor
- Fanuc IR Vision system to locate installation targets and perform product inspections
- Pre-engineered controls system with Allen Bradley 7” HMI & PLC
- Option to upgrade system with mobile quick-change feeder carts and EOAT storage racks
Sequence of Operation
- Molding machine opens and mold-unload robot removes two molded products
- Mold unload EOAT docks into Mold-Mate’s vertical assembly fixture
- Products are clamped into place and the mold-unload robot returns to the molding machine
- The Fanuc LR Mate robot utilizes IR Vision and the Angle Array tool to install clips into the 1st product
- The Fanuc LR Mate reloads the EOAT
- The Fanuc LR Mate robot utilizes IR Vision and the Angle Array tool to install clips into the 2nd product
- The IR Vision system confirms the presence of all clips
- Upon completion, the assembly fixture tilts down and deposits the products onto the discharge conveyor
