Application: Attach PCB to heatsink with two screws Solution: Cartesian robot with blow-fed screwdriver spindle Chassis: Automation Station – Aluminum Frame
Flexible Automation’s standard Automation Station chassis (aluminum frame variant) was used to automate the screwdriving of a circuit board onto heat sinks. The components are presented in shipping trays which are transferred in and out of the robot’s work envelope by a rotary dial indexer. Torque is monitored at each screw position and a tray clamp requires an operator to acknowledge any faulty screw positions prior to removing the tray from the machine.
Takt Time (screw): Three seconds Screw Feed System: Design Tool Incorporated Screwdriving System: Desoutter Cartesian Robot: Yamaha XY-X with RCX320 controller Chassis: Flexible Automation Inc.’s Automation Station – Aluminum, 1.5m x 1.5m Controls: Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI
