Flexible Automation developed its Trunnion Workstation cell to hold and rotate trim panels and substructures while the operator uses FAI’s Mid-Clip Setter tool to install mid-panel nuts. The station is equipped with FAI’s Speed-Dock Feeder to allow the operator to reload the tool as needed.
The fixture can be equipped with component-hole lights to indicate where the operator needs to install a component. Part present sensors can be embedded in the fixture to confirm that that required components have been placed.
The fixture can be rotated to any degree of rotation and is secured in place by a brake-release foot-pedal. This infinite rotation system compliments the electric ergo-lift system that positions the headstock and tailstock to a comfortable working height for any operator. The Trunnion Workstation features a parallel crank-wheel with a 2:1 gear ratio for comfortable operation. An inline / perpendicular “hoist wheel” can be requested if the facility does not prefer the parallel crank-wheel.
The Trunnion Workstation’s standard controls package includes an Allen-Bradley PLC and 10” HMI. Various menus on the HMI are used to display the status of component locations and to monitor the status of the Speed-Dock-Feeder.
